At the end of May last year, we travelled to Milan with Easyjet on what was quite possibly the bargain of the century as far as holidays are concerned. We booked it through Easyjet and travelled from Edinburgh for four nights in a four-star hotel on a bed and breakfast basis for the grand total of £440! I was literally looking for a quick weekend away in London at the time and spotted that which worked out cheaper so I booked it straight away!
While we were in Milan we travelled by train to Lake Como for the day which was super easy to do and much cheaper than an organised trip.
We got the train from the central train station in Milan directly to Lake Como and train tickets cost under €10 each from what I can make out – we only paid €4.80 per ticket but I suspect we only bought one-way tickets due to not understanding the self-service ticket machines.
It’s a good job the train back was busy and out tickets weren’t checked. 😉
I could tell you about how we wandered around the lake with an amazing chocolate ice cream, or how we found a little cafe by the lakeside with tables outside where we sat in the shade watching the world go by while we hid from the midday sun. I could even tell you about the lovely time we had wandering around the shops and up and down the quaint little side streets.
But I won’t.
The best way to tell you what a gorgeous area Lake Como is to visit is to show you…
Just look at how beautiful it is!
