Have you been to the USA? It is a country of many contrasts and you are likely to be able to find a location that tempts you to suit your tastes and your interests. If you have visited before, we bet that you have been bitten by the bug and want to get back there and explore some more. If you haven’t yet made it across the Atlantic, then let us see if we can inspire you today as we share with you 5 ways to enjoy the USA.
Go for a city break
The USA is packed full of cities that are bound to appeal to you. You might head over to the west coast and spend a few days exploring San Francisco, taking in Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary and Fisherman’s Wharf. Also on the west coast is the City of Angels, Los Angeles. You could walk down Hollywood Boulevard and relax on Venice Beach. Or perhaps you are drawn to a little history and plan to head east to where American Independence began, visiting Philadelphia or the political capital, Washington DC.
The city of New York is a firm favourite with many travellers and tourists and it has so many must visit landmarks and sights that you will never tire of things to do there. As it is on the east coast it is also easily accessible to us Brits as a short break.
Visiting the US is like visiting a continent. It is not only vast and takes hours and hours to traverse, it is hugely diverse. As such, you might want to get a better sense of it by travelling around and sampling its many sights and sounds. A great way to do this can be by cruising as there is no need to navigate or keep packing and unpacking along the way.
You can check out a few options over at Bolsover cruise and stay holidays. Maybe you will be tempted by a transatlantic cruise or you might choose to explore the delights of Key West.
Hit Las Vegas
Las Vegas draws thousands of tourists every single day, as it appeals to so many different types of travellers.
Of course you would struggle to visit Las Vegas and overlook the gambling and casinos, the Strip is packed full of them and they are a lot of fun to spend a few hours in. But if this is not your thing, do not rule Las Vegas out just yet as it has so much more to offer.
Located in Nevada, it has a good all year round climate and is jam-packed with entertainment. You can go to the theatre, see big name performers and watch live shows. There is also plenty of shopping to be done, wonderful restaurants to eat at, and you can marvel at the huge hotels and their amenities on the famous Las Vegas Strip
Did someone say ‘road trip’? Yes, let’s do this!
Taking a road trip across the US can be a fascinating way to see more of the country. You might choose to fly out to Los Angeles and then drive the Pacific Coast Highway, or head inland and explore Palm Springs before driving south to San Diego and that world-famous zoo. Alternatively, you could choose to explore the Deep South and drive from Chicago to New Orleans. This itinerary could include visiting Memphis, the Mississippi river and Elvis Presley’s home, Graceland.
Perhaps the famous Route 66 is calling out to you, where you can drive from the Great Lakes to the Californian coast, taking in places such as St Louis, Chicago and the Grand Canyon along the way. It would certainly be a drive to remember.
Meet Mickey in Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World is at the top of so many dream holiday wish lists and we can understand why.
Walt Disney World is situated in Orlando, Florida, meaning that it has practically year-round sunshine and heat, if you can overlook the tropical wet climate. It is surrounded by restaurants, attractions, shopping and other theme parks such as Universal Studios and SeaWorld. In addition to this, jump in the car for an hour or so and you will find yourself lazing on the white sandy Floridian beaches.
If you choose to stay at Walt Disney World itself, you won’t need to leave Disney property for the entire length of your stay. Boasting four world-class theme parks, two huge water parks, and mini golf courses, there is more than enough to see and do to keep you entertained. Add to these the sprawling shopping complex, restaurants and entertainment centre at Disney Springs and the various activities running at the resort hotels and you will find that you will struggle to fit everything in!
